JoJo's Jumpstart Foundation was established in honor of Jordan Kontor. Due to his severe dyslexia, academics were not his strong suit, but hard work was. He started HoosierScapes landscaping business while in high school. As a result of his strong work ethic, Jordan grew HoosierScapes throughout college by coming home on the weekends to take care of his clients' landscaping needs. After graduation Jordan knew owning his own business was his dream and HoosierScapes began to flourish.
Jordan was honest, kind, caring, and hard-working. He did what it took to overcome every challenge he faced with a smile. He knew that sometimes learning things the hard way is, in the end, the best way. Jordan was there for anyone who needed a helping hand, and had a unique gift of making others feel good about themselves.
He was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 4. He managed this diagnosis and lived a full life until a massive seizure tragically took him from us at the age of 28. He would want nothing more than to have his legacy be to help young people who also faced challenges in reaching their goals.
We are all "searching"; looking for something beyond us and seeking to understand our place in the world as individuals and as organizations. This is never truer than during our youth, but these questions continue throughout life.
In February 2022, our lives were forever changed when we lost our son Jordan. From the pain of losing Jordan came a vision to help others find their purpose. We want to continue Jordan's legacy by helping young people.
We believe that the period from the teens through the 20's is a critical time. There are changes and opportunities. A time filled with questions on what the future holds. No matter what hand you are dealt and with each struggle you encounter you learn a lesson that forces you to move forward, get stronger and wiser in your future. We call this time emerging adulthood. We want to provide resources so these emerging adults can reach their unique potential and dreams.
We cannot do this alone. We need partners. Nonprofit leaders, organizations and individual donors that are fully committed to using their resources, compassion, and expertise to help young adults navigate this time in life and thrive.
We invite you to explore our mission, focus, and partner with us to help adolescents and youth on their journey to adulthood.
